Information Processing
Computer Information Processing
When we process data ( by applying some operations/procedures) like we give some meaning to data than it becomes information. There are four steps envolves in computer information processing,
- Input
- Processing
- Storage
- Output
In computers, information is processed in RAM (Random Access Memory) or Short Term Memory by using CPU (Central Processing Unit) which performs some basic operations and procedures on the given data and programs. The sources which provide data in RAM are different hardware devices like keyboard, mouse, microphone, and scanner etc. After performing some operations on the given data then it is sent to the Hard Disk (HD) which perform the role of permanent storage. In the last and final step of computer information processing the processed information/output is shown to the people /users.
Memory
The basic unit of memory is Bit. In past when there was a problem of memory cost than its very nice to have some Bits of memory. Basically, memory is a space where we store data. Like one bit space of memory store four digits then if we have a large stuff to store then its compulsory to have a memory in Kilo Bits.Like the same after this, we have Mega Bits (MB), Giga Bits (GB) and Tera Bits (TBs).Here one kilobit is equal to 1024 bits, One MB equal to 1024 kb etc.Nowadays, the problem with memory space and cost is not left furthermore even now we can get TBs of data space at the cheapest rate from the market and our cell phones have the same abilities. There are many types of memory like RAM(Read Access Memory) ROM( Random Only Memory) and some other external and internal memories.
